The clothes closet

this is my side...

of this seemingly big enough closet

as you can see, it isn't really big, for a family of four, which includes an active four year-old and a progressively active toddler [yes we all share a room, so all our clothes are in one room too. =P].  so i am kinda getting the better part of the deal, considering that my husband shares hanger space with our daughter.

yes, it is that tiny. and up until we have an un-tiny house, i will have to work around this big "little" problem of mine.  and don't get fooled by those empty hangers.  practically half of the clothes actually residing there are with the seamstress for some much needed adjustments.  so i better get moving to make room for my new* set of clothes coming in next week.

do you read DIY, lifestyle, or organizing magazines?  if you do then you must have come across this seemingly impossible mantra - that no matter how small or cramped a space you have, you can still find ways to organize it.

i used to snicker and dare them magazine writers in my mind, 'wait till you see my closet'  you are going to go mental.

but i have found the answer and it is a cruel one.  i have to brutally edit my wardrobe: box-up seasonal stuff; throwout [read:give away] stuff i have kept from my previous stuff; and stow-away stuff i won't be wearing till i reach my goal weight.

i'm planning to do the drastic overhaul when my "new" clothes arrive so it has to be on a weekend.

note to self: no matter how painful it is right now, believe: purging is good for everyone, most of the time.

*i was planning to buy me one or 2 pairs of jeans because i've lost a bit of weight, but i figured that i should just have my existing pairs re-sized as am still planning to lose more weight. while at it, i included tops which badly needed adjustments so i don't look like i am still pregnant.  this saves me a big chunk of money.  woohoo!
